Introduction to the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANS) linked Cause of Death Data

Abstract

|
The Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) was conducted to evaluate the health and nutritional status of the Korean people based on the Article 16 of National Health Promotion Act. The 2007-2015 KNHANES was currently being released in linked 2007-2018 Cause of Death Statistics. The linkage subjects were participants aged 19 years and over in KNHANES examination survey who agree to link Cause of Death Statistics and have a valid resident registration number and linkage rate was 97.2% based on the participants in examination survey of KNHANES. The percentage of deaths in the KNHANES linked Cause of Death data was 5.8%. Regarding the percentage of cause of death, deaths from malignant neoplasms were highest (32.6%), followed by heart disease (11.1%) and cerebrovascular disease (8.4%). The KNHANES linked Cause of Death data were provided through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Health and Nutrition Survey and the statistical analysis lab after reviewing the research plan.
